The Big Easy by Char-Broil – The infrared alternative to turkey fryers

Char-Broil - The Big EasyI know, I know… You’re saying to yourself, MegaBBQ.com is all about barbecuing not frying! And yes you are right. However, there are some of our readers that would like to know about the latest gadgets and technology in the barbecue world — even if it’s not a barbecue grill, smoker etc. I came across this beauty of easiness today on the Char-Broil website (one of my favorite BBQ sites).

Seeing that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and thousands of people are going to “fire up” (no pun intended) their turkey fryers. Why not take a look at one that doesn’t even use oil? It uses the latest in barbecuing technology — Infrared — And it’s much safer!

Description & Features
Char-Broil claims that food prepared inside The Big Easy is juicy, tender, moist and flavorful. As I mentioned earlier and deserves to be brought up again, instead of oil, the infrared heat penetrates the meat evenly and seals in the juices. The result is a turkey that is moist inside and crispy outside.

In addition to being able to cook turkeys the same way as in traditional fryers by injecting with marinades, The Big Easy also allows for the use of rubs and seasoning flavor to be used on the outside. This technique can be washed away with traditional turkey fryers. There’s a removable drip pan located underneath The Big Easy heating chamber which catches all the bird’s flavorful juices. These natural juices can be retained to make homemade gravy for further preparation on the stove top.

Another great benefit from the use of infrared vs. frying is the health benefits. You are not submerging your turkey in hot oil soaking up all that saturated fat. The Char-Broil Big Easy does more than just “fry” turkeys — it can also cook chicken, pork tenderloin, beef roast and most large cuts of meat up to 16 pounds. The Big Easy does it all in about 8 to 10 minutes per pound. A meat thermometer is also included with the kit which will help you determine when your meat is finished cooking.

Safety
Cooking your bird this Thanksgiving just got a lot more safer by utilizing The Big Easy. There’s no oil — Need I say more? If you love the taste of fried turkey but dislike the safety hazard of filling a pot of oil, heating it up and worry about the related issues that come with it, you might want to take a look at this new technology. The Big Easy eliminates the dangers associated with the incorrect use of deep fryers. Cooking occurs inside the Big Easy’s cylindrical, double-walled heating chamber and is powered by a fully enclosed propane burner.

Everyone loves the juicy and distinctive taste of fried turkey, but using a traditional fryer, you put yourself, your family and your property at risk of burns and fire damage. Cooking oil is combustible; therefore, if it is heating beyond it’s cooking temperature, then the vapors can ignite. In fact, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission noted “the majority of reported incidents occurred while the oil was being heated, prior to adding the turkey.”The Big Easy offers the perfect safe and healthy solution—great fried turkey taste without the oil.

One Word… Easy!
The third great attribute of Char-Broil’s The Big Easy is right in the name of the device; Easy. Those of you who have fried a turkey using a traditional deep-fryer can relate to it’s labor-intensive process. First you have to find a safe location (away from your house, deck and where kids play), buying the oil, pre-heating the oil, cleaning up the mess and figuring out how to properly dispose of all that used oil.

All that oil you purchase just made your Thanksgiving bird cost $35-$40 over what you’ve just paid for the bird itself. When your feast is over you then need to get that 3.5 to 4 gallons of oil from the 26 to 30 quart pot back into a container or several containers and figure out how and where to properly recycle the oil in your community.

What’s great about the Char-Broil Big Easy is that it eliminates all oil-related issues by simply eliminating the oil, allowing you to spend less money and more time enjoying your turkey without the huge cleanup.
